Parish governing authorities may call referendum elections on whether to allow forms of gaming not permitted in that parish as of January 1, 2026

Eligible gaming types include riverboat gaming, horse racing, video draw poker, and sports wagering

Each form of gaming must appear as a separate ballot proposition, allowing voters to approve or reject each type individually

A majority vote in favor authorizes that specific form of gaming within the parish; a majority vote against prohibits it

Election costs are paid by the parish governing authority that calls the election
