Retailers purchasing seafood must maintain purchase records for at least six months from the date of purchase

Purchase records must be made available for inspection by the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry

Failing to maintain required records constitutes a violation subject to civil penalties

Knowingly creating or submitting false or fraudulent purchase records is prohibited and subject to civil penalties as determined by the commissioner

Adds new section R.S. 3:4749.4 to existing state law governing seafood testing and inspection
