Baton Rouge police chief must receive a performance evaluation three years after initial appointment by the mayor-president, then annually thereafter

Mayor-president may reconfirm the police chief for another one-year period following each evaluation

Mayor-president has discretionary authority to demote the police chief to their former civil service classification after any evaluation

Demotion under this provision does not constitute corrective or disciplinary action, eliminating the employee's civil service appeal rights

Enacts R.S. 33:2481.8, applying specifically and exclusively to the city of Baton Rouge
