Exempts the Department of Education from verifying public school enrollment status for students attending public elementary or secondary laboratory schools operated by public colleges or universities in Louisiana

Current law requires the Department to verify that scholarship recipients from school tuition organizations (STOs) were not enrolled in a Louisiana public school on October 1st or February 1st of the scholarship year

The exemption applies specifically to students receiving scholarships funded through the income tax credit for donations to school tuition organizations

Qualified students for STO scholarships must have household income not exceeding 250% of the federal poverty level and be either first-time kindergarteners, former public school students, or prior scholarship recipients

Effective upon signature by the governor or upon expiration of time for gubernatorial action
