LA SB150

Authorizes the Louisiana vital records registry and state registrar to scan original documents submitted in support of vital records applications (births, deaths, marriages, divorces, adoptions, name changes), store them electronically, and return the originals to submitters

Establishes that scanned and electronically stored documents have the same legal authenticity as paper originals

Permits the vital records registry and state registrar to issue certified copies of documents in either paper or electronic form, including evidentiary documents

Enacts new R.S. 40:42.1 to codify these digital records management procedures

Becomes effective upon the governor's signature or upon expiration of the time for gubernatorial action
