Federally insured financial institutions may deliver garnished funds of $1,000 or less immediately to the sheriff without a court order, provided they have received no notice of opposition to the garnishment

For garnished deposits exceeding $1,000, federally insured financial institutions must wait 30 days after filing their garnishment answer before delivering funds to the sheriff without a court order

Delivery of funds to the sheriff discharges the bank's obligation to the judgment debtor for the amount paid

These streamlined garnishment procedures do not apply to wages, salaries, tips reported to employers, or commissions
