Parents of full-time LA GATOR Scholarship Program students enrolling in BESE-approved nonpublic schools may voluntarily sign a limited waiver of student privacy rights under R.S. 17:3914 and federal FERPA to expedite tuition payments

The waiver permits the Department of Education to disclose limited student information (name, ID number, date of birth, grade level, parent contact information, and enrollment/scholarship status) to the contracted program manager and participating nonpublic school

Program managers must confirm enrollment, place a hold on scholarship account funds equal to full-time tuition costs, and make expedited electronic payments to nonpublic schools upon student enrollment

Program managers and nonpublic schools receiving student data must use information solely for scholarship administration, implement security safeguards, and are contractually prohibited from unauthorized redisclosure

The privacy waiver remains effective only for the duration of program participation and parents may revoke consent in writing at any time; schools must return all payments if a student does not enroll or attend
