Public insurance adjusters, contractors, and restoration companies are prohibited from soliciting, inspecting, or being physically present at fire-damaged properties under investigation until 24 hours after authorities release control back to the owner or occupant

Exception allows these parties to access the property if accompanied by or acting with permission of the legal owner

State fire marshal, fire department, police, and building officials are authorized to enforce the 24-hour restriction

Violations carry a civil penalty of $1,000 per offense

Violators may also face license revocation by the Commissioner of Insurance under Chapter 175, Section 172
