Senior housing facilities must provide security services at all times to ensure resident safety, applying to housing authority developments and publicly-assisted housing primarily serving persons 55 years or older or persons with disabilities

Security services may be provided by watch, guard, or patrol agencies or facility employees who observe/report unlawful activity, prevent theft, protect individuals and property, and control premises access

Law enforcement officers are explicitly excluded from providing the required security services

All senior housing facility employees and other appropriate personnel must receive training on safety and security protocols

The Secretary of Public Safety and Security may promulgate implementing regulations in consultation with elder affairs, housing and community development officials, the attorney general, state police, and various law enforcement associations
