Sexual assault evidence kits must be submitted to crime laboratories within 7 business days of law enforcement taking possession

Survivors who have not filed a police report may choose to have their sexual assault evidence kit tested or stored safely by law enforcement for the duration of the statute of limitations

Rape kit results cannot be used to prosecute the survivor/victim

Survivor/victim DNA samples may only be used for purposes directly related to the specific incident being investigated

Law enforcement is prohibited from comparing survivor DNA to unrelated crime scene databases or including survivor profiles in searchable DNA databases
