Level 2 and Level 3 registered sex offenders would be prohibited from loitering within 500 feet of designated school bus stops for the duration of their registration obligation

Loitering is defined as remaining in the prohibited area for more than 15 minutes, with an exception for sex offenders who are parents or legal guardians waiting for their own child

First offense carries a $500 fine; second offense carries a $1,000 fine and/or up to 3 months imprisonment

Third or subsequent offenses carry a $1,500 fine and mandatory imprisonment of 3 months to 2½ years in a house of correction

All violations must be reported in writing to the sex offender registry board
