Increases the maximum claim amount for small claims court from $7,000 to $20,000

Replaces the existing two-tier filing fee structure with a six-tier system based on claim amount:

• $30 for claims $500 or less
• $40 for claims $501-$2,000
• $90 for claims $2,001-$5,000
• $140 for claims $5,001-$10,000
• $250 for claims $10,001-$15,000
• $500 for claims over $15,000

Amends Chapter 218, Sections 21 and 22 of the Massachusetts General Laws
