Creates new Section 13O in Chapter 265 of Massachusetts General Laws establishing specific criminal penalties for assaulting sports officials (referees and others who administer rules at sporting events)

Basic assault of a sports official is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 1 year imprisonment and/or up to $1,000 fine

Assault causing bodily injury requiring medical attention is a felony punishable by up to 2 years imprisonment and/or up to $2,000 fine

Assault causing serious impairment of a body function is a felony punishable by up to 5 years imprisonment and/or a fine of $1,000 to $5,000

Facility owners/operators must post signs with penalty information and provide escorts to officials upon request, with violations subject to civil fines up to $500
