Amends Section 38B of Chapter 127 of the General Laws to add penalties for incarcerated persons who commit assault or assault and battery with a dangerous weapon against correctional personnel

Covers attacks on officers, employees, volunteers, contractors, and staff engaged in prisoner transportation at jails, houses of correction, trial court detention facilities, and state prisons

Establishes penalties of up to 2.5 years in jail/house of correction or up to 20 years in state prison for such offenses

Requires sentences to run consecutively, beginning after all outstanding sentences are served

Defines "dangerous weapon" to include objects designed or intended as weapons, including custom or homemade items
