Amends Chapter 265 Section 13D of Massachusetts General Laws to create enhanced penalties for assault and battery causing serious bodily injury to corrections officers or Department of Corrections staff while performing their duties

Establishes imprisonment of 1-10 years in state prison or 1-2.5 years in house of correction, with a mandatory minimum of 1 year that cannot be suspended or reduced

Allows fines of $500-$10,000, but only in addition to (not instead of) the mandatory minimum imprisonment

Prohibits probation, parole, work release, furlough, or good conduct sentence reductions until the mandatory minimum term is served

Defines "serious bodily injury" as permanent disfigurement, protracted loss or impairment of bodily function/limb/organ, or substantial risk of death
