Requires vehicles with gross vehicle weight rating of 10,001 pounds or more (Class 3+) to be equipped with lateral protective devices (side guards), convex mirrors, crossover mirrors, and backup cameras starting January 1, 2028

Applies to vehicles contracted with, leased, or purchased by Massachusetts municipalities, state instrumentalities, electric companies, gas companies, utilities, and wireless providers

Exempts ambulances, firefighting apparatus, low-speed vehicles, agricultural tractors, and other vehicle classes as determined by the registrar

Directs the registrar to adopt regulations consistent with the U.S. DOT Volpe Center's side guard standard (DOT-VNTSC-OSTR-16-05) for equipment specifications

Allows the registrar to approve alternative means of compliance with mirror and lateral protective device requirements
