Converts Arlington's town clerk from an elected position to an appointed one, with the town manager making appointments based on merit and fitness, subject to select board approval

Removes the town clerk from the list of positions exempt from the town manager's supervision and administrative direction

Allows the town manager to remove the town clerk, comptroller, or treasurer/collector with select board approval

Grants the town clerk, comptroller, and treasurer/collector authority to report directly to any select board member on any matter without requiring prior approval from the town manager

Current elected town clerk continues serving until their term expires or they vacate office, at which point the elected position is abolished and future appointments follow the new process
