Massachusetts State Board of Retirement would credit Joseph Suppa, a Massachusetts Department of Transportation employee, with creditable service for two periods of MBTA employment: 3/1/2004 to 1/29/2007 and 1/29/2011 to 7/15/2011

Creditable service applies for calculating retirement benefits under sections 5 or 10 of Chapter 32 of the General Laws

Suppa must pay into the annuity savings fund an amount equal to the retirement contributions he would have paid during those periods, plus buyback interest, before any retirement allowance takes effect

Payment may be made in one lump sum or in installments as prescribed by the Massachusetts State Retirement Board

Suppa has 5 years from passage of the act to exercise the buy-back option
