Authorizes the Fairhaven police chief, with town administrator approval, to appoint retired Fairhaven police officers as special police officers for police details and related duties

Limits eligibility to officers who retired based on superannuation within the past 5 years and are under age 70, with appointments automatically terminating at age 70

Requires special police officers to pass a medical examination at their own expense and maintain certification with the Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission

Exempts special police officers from civil service laws (Chapter 31), collective bargaining laws (Chapter 150E), and certain age restrictions, while providing injury leave benefits calculated on average earnings over the prior 52 weeks

Appointments are indefinite but may be terminated by the police chief with town administrator approval upon 14 days written notice
