Mandates health insurance coverage for scalp hair prostheses (wigs) and facial medical pigmentation (including eyebrows) for individuals with alopecia areata, alopecia totalis, non-classical 21-hydroxylase deficiency, or permanent hair loss due to injury

Expands existing coverage requirements beyond cancer/leukemia treatment-related hair loss to include autoimmune and medical conditions causing hair loss

Requires a written statement from a treating physician confirming medical necessity for coverage to apply

Excludes coverage for hair loss resulting from natural or premature aging processes

Applies to all major insurance types: state employee plans (Chapter 32A), commercial insurers (Chapter 175), Blue Cross Blue Shield plans (Chapters 176A and 176B), and HMOs (Chapter 176G)
