Certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) must receive the same reimbursement rates as physicians for identical anesthesia services across all insurance types, including state employee health plans, Medicaid, private insurers, HMOs, and preferred provider organizations.

Insurers cannot distinguish between physicians and CRNAs for purposes of participation, coverage, or payment when both are acting within their licensed scope of practice.

Reimbursement rates for physicians cannot be reduced to achieve compliance with the equal payment requirements.

All claims must identify the National Provider Identifier of the physician or CRNA who provided the service.

The Commissioner of Insurance must promulgate rules and regulations for implementation and enforcement of these provisions.
