Department of Elementary and Secondary Education must develop type 1 diabetes informational materials for parents and guardians, in coordination with the Department of Public Health, and make them available on its website

School districts and charter schools must provide the materials in writing to parents/guardians when students first enroll in elementary school and again upon entry into grade 6, effective January 1, 2027

Required information includes a description of type 1 diabetes, risk factors, warning signs, and the screening process including the significance of stages 1, 2, and 3

Materials must recommend that parents of students showing warning signs immediately consult with the child's primary care provider about screening, and that diagnosed students develop a treatment plan potentially involving an endocrinologist

Informational materials shall undergo periodic updates as necessary
