Required informational content includes a description of type 1 diabetes, risk factors, warning signs, and explanation of the screening process and disease stages (stage 1, 2, and 3)

Recommends parents of students displaying warning signs immediately consult with the student's primary care provider to determine if diabetes screening is appropriate

Advises that following a type 1 diabetes diagnosis, parents should work with primary care providers to develop a treatment plan, potentially including referral to specialists such as endocrinologists
