Department of Elementary and Secondary Education required to publish guidelines by June 30, 2024 for implementing social-emotional learning curricula in middle and high school athletic programs

Curricula must teach students and coaches to create safe, supportive, bias-free team cultures and provide students age-appropriate leadership roles in team decision-making

Required topics include addressing hate and bias, building positive relationships, emotion and stress management, self-discipline, goal-setting, conflict resolution, and ethical decision-making

Guidelines must be updated biennially and integrated into the safe and supportive schools framework under Chapter 69, Section 1P

School district adoption is voluntary; districts "shall consider" the guidelines if they elect to integrate social-emotional learning into athletics
