Charter school boards of trustees face the same requirement to meet bimonthly with an elected 5-member student advisory committee

Student advisory committees must elect a chairperson by majority vote before June 1 each year to serve a one-year term as an ex-officio, nonvoting member of the school committee or board of trustees

Student chairpersons have no right to attend executive sessions unless expressly granted by the school committee or board, must follow all rules and regulations, and serve without compensation

School committees and charter school boards may designate a student outreach coordinator to help establish the advisory committee and keep students informed of meeting agendas
