All retail food establishments must use compostable, recyclable, or reusable food service ware for food prepared or packaged on premises starting January 1, 2027

Covered items include containers, bowls, plates, cups, lids, straws, utensils, film wrap, and other single-use items used by restaurants, food trucks, and other food establishments

Compostable products must meet ASTM D6400 or D6868 standards, and fiber-based products cannot contain organic fluorine above 100 parts per million (PFAS restriction)

Recyclable materials must be accepted by the local municipality's regular curbside or transfer station collection program, and plastic items must display their resin code

Department of Environmental Protection will promulgate enforcement regulations
