Protective orders issued on behalf of minors (under Chapter 209A abuse prevention and Chapter 258E harassment prevention) would remain in effect after the minor turns 18, rather than automatically expiring

Upon reaching age of majority, the plaintiff may appear in court on the order's expiration date to request an extension or permanent order

Courts would determine whether to extend protection for additional time reasonably necessary or enter a permanent order

Amends both Chapter 209A (domestic abuse prevention orders) and Chapter 258E (harassment prevention orders) of Massachusetts General Laws
