Requires trucks and trailers with gross vehicle weight ratings of 10,001 pounds or more (Class 3+) to be equipped with lateral protective devices (side guards), convex mirrors, crossover mirrors, and backup cameras, effective January 1, 2028

Applies only to vehicles operated under contract with, leased by, or purchased by Massachusetts municipalities, state instrumentalities, electric companies, gas companies, utilities, and wireless providers

Exempts ambulances, firefighting apparatus, low-speed vehicles, agricultural tractors, and other vehicle classes as determined by the registrar

Directs the registrar to adopt regulations consistent with the U.S. DOT Volpe Center's side guard standard (DOT-VNTSC-OSTR-16-05) for size, design, and mounting specifications

Allows the registrar to provide alternative means of compliance with the mirror and lateral protective device requirements
