Candidates for mayor, city councilor, or school committee in Brockton must have been a resident of their ward (for ward seats) or the city (for at-large seats and mayor) for at least one year immediately preceding their election

Elected officials who move out of their ward or the city will automatically cease to hold their position

Applies to all ward-based and at-large positions for mayor, city council, and school committee

Takes effect immediately upon passage

Has received local approval from the City of Brockton
