Certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) must receive reimbursement equal to physicians for the same anesthesia services across all insurance types, including state employee coverage, Medicaid, private insurance, HMOs, and preferred provider organizations.

Insurers are prohibited from making distinctions between physicians and CRNAs for participation, coverage, or payment when both are acting within their licensed scope of practice.

Physician reimbursement rates cannot be reduced to achieve pay parity with CRNAs.

All claims must identify the National Provider Identifier of the physician or CRNA who provided the service.

The Commissioner of Insurance is directed to promulgate rules and regulations for implementation and enforcement.
