Authorizes Dighton's Board of Selectmen to appoint POST-certified retired police officers as special police officers to perform police details, with appointments made as the Police Chief deems necessary

Eligible retirees must have voluntarily retired on superannuation, be under age 70, and pass a medical examination at their own expense

Special police officers have full arrest powers and police functions equivalent to regular Dighton officers while performing detail duties

Appointments are annual and subject to removal with 14 days' written notice (or immediately for public safety concerns); officers must comply with all department rules, training, and firearm qualification requirements at no cost to the town

Officers are exempt from civil service rules and collective bargaining laws but remain subject to unemployment insurance requirements and retired employee work/payment limitations
