Allows eligible individuals to register to vote on Election Day or during early voting by appearing in person at their polling place or early voting site with proof of residence and completing a signed affidavit

Acceptable proof of residence includes a valid photo ID (such as a Massachusetts driver's license), utility bill, bank statement, government document, residential lease, paycheck, or student fee statement showing the registrant's name and address

Registrants who cannot provide proof of residence may cast a provisional ballot and must present documentation within 2 business days after a primary or 6 days after an election

False information on the registration affidavit is punishable by up to 5 years imprisonment, a fine of up to $5,000, or both

Voters cannot change party enrollment at a primary using same-day registration, and allegations of illegal registration or multiple voting must be investigated by the attorney general or district attorney
