Requires health insurers, MassHealth, and the Group Insurance Commission to cover rental and usage of multi-user breast pumps for mothers whose newborns are in intensive care, special care nurseries, or have cardiac, neurological, or oral anomalies preventing direct breastfeeding

Multi-user breast pumps must be made available within 24 hours of maternal hospital discharge and coverage continues until infant discharge or mother stops pumping

Mandates coverage for replacement parts (connectors, valves, tubing, flanges), breast milk storage bags, and microwave sterilization bags

Requires coverage for initial assessment, instruction, and fitting by an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), plus ongoing support and refitting as needed

Applies to all major insurance types in Massachusetts: commercial insurers (Chapter 175), Blue Cross Blue Shield plans (Chapters 176A and 176B), HMOs (Chapter 176G), and Medicaid managed care organizations
