MBTA and Bridgewater State University would implement a 50% reduced fare pilot program for semester commuter rail passes on the South Coast Rail corridor during the 2025-2026 academic year

Eligible students must be enrolled at Bridgewater State University and reside in municipalities along the corridor, including New Bedford, Fall River, Taunton, and 11 other towns

Bridgewater State University would distribute passes and prioritize allocation based on student financial need

MBTA must submit a report to the House and Senate Ways and Means committees by September 1, 2026, detailing total passes distributed, distribution by municipality, and total program costs
