Parents may petition for an emergency court hearing to reevaluate a visitation schedule when the other parent fails to comply without just cause, with the hearing required within 10 days of filing

Courts must calculate denied visitation time and award the petitioner compensatory extra time, scheduled at the noncompliant parent's expense and consistent with the child's best interests

Noncompliant parents must pay the petitioner's court costs and reasonable attorney's fees incurred in enforcing the visitation schedule

Courts may order noncompliant parents to attend parenting courses, perform community service, or assume financial responsibility for maintaining visitation when living more than 20 miles from the petitioner

Violation of court orders under this section may result in contempt of court; effective October 1, 2025
