Attorney General must establish a toll-free hotline for tenants to report repair and maintenance complaints about residential properties, including those owned by federal, state, or local governments

Tenants may report complaints anonymously through the hotline

After reviewing complaints, the Attorney General's Office may refer tenants to Maryland Legal Services Corporation, report violations to local code enforcement, or bring court action to recover damages and seek equitable relief

Annual reports required to the General Assembly from February 1, 2026 through 2030, including total complaints, demographic breakdowns, resolution times, and patterns of complaints against specific landlords or property management groups

Effective October 1, 2025
