Student member of the Montgomery County Board of Education will receive annual compensation equal to the highest resident undergraduate tuition, mandatory fees, and room and board charged at a 4-year University System of Maryland institution (excluding UMD Global Campus and UMD Baltimore)

Student members may elect to receive compensation as monthly stipend installments during their term, with any remaining amount paid as a scholarship after the term ends

Total student member compensation in any year cannot exceed what an elected board member receives that year

Student members remain eligible for reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses incurred in connection with official duties

Act takes effect July 1, 2025, and was approved by Governor Wes Moore on May 6, 2025
