Authorizes construction, permitting, and operation of natural gas generating facilities in Maryland until the state meets 50% of its energy needs from renewable energy resources, including nuclear energy

Requires persons constructing natural gas facilities to obtain either a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity under § 7-207 or Commission approval under § 7-207.1

Once Maryland reaches the 50% renewable energy threshold, the Maryland Energy Administration must work with natural gas facility owners and operators to decrease natural gas energy production at the same rate renewable energy production increases

Takes effect October 1, 2025
