Law enforcement agencies, agents, and local detention facilities must notify federal immigration authorities when they have custody of an individual with an outstanding criminal warrant, including details about planned release dates, if requested by federal authorities

Local facilities must retain custody of individuals with outstanding criminal warrants for up to 48 hours beyond their planned release to allow federal immigration authorities to take custody

Law enforcement must cooperate with federal immigration authorities to transfer individuals with outstanding criminal warrants to determine if they are priorities for removal under Department of Homeland Security enforcement priorities

State government, local governments, county sheriffs, and their agencies are prohibited from adopting or enforcing any policies that limit cooperation with federal immigration authorities regarding individuals unlawfully present who have outstanding criminal warrants

Interpreters must be provided for any individual who needs one to effectively communicate during investigations under this section; the act takes effect October 1, 2025
