Contracts between county boards of education and county superintendents executed on or after July 1, 2025, must include standardized termination compensation provisions

Termination compensation is capped at: the remaining compensation if 1 year or less remains on the contract, or 1 year's compensation plus 1 month's compensation for each additional full year remaining if more than 1 year remains

Terminated superintendents receive health benefits coverage for 1 year from the termination date or until they secure new employment, whichever occurs first

Superintendents removed under § 4-201(E) (removal for cause) are not entitled to any termination compensation under these provisions
