Electric companies are prohibited from using condemnation (eminent domain) to acquire property for constructing power lines in Maryland

No person may use condemnation to acquire property for constructing generating stations that produce electricity from wind or solar energy

The State, its instrumentalities, and political subdivisions are barred from condemning property that is encumbered by conservation easements held by entities such as the Maryland Environmental Trust, Maryland Historical Trust, Maryland Agricultural Land Preservation Foundation, or land trusts

The State and its subdivisions are also prohibited from condemning property that will be used for power line construction or wind/solar generating stations
