Youth services bureaus may request state and national criminal history records checks from the Criminal Justice Information System Central Repository for employees, volunteers, and interns

Applications must include fingerprints in FBI-approved format, the mandatory FBI processing fee, and the fee for Maryland criminal history records access under § 10–221(b)(7)

Criminal history information obtained is confidential, may not be redisseminated, and can only be used for employment and volunteering purposes

Individuals may contest the contents of their criminal history record, and the Central Repository must provide updated information if new records are reported after the initial check

Effective date: October 1, 2025
