Circuit courthouses constructed or undergoing major renovation on or after October 1, 2025 must maintain a private lactation room with a chair, table, electrical outlet, lockable door, sink, and refrigerator for use by court employees and the public

Breast-feeding mothers may request excusal from jury service, with "breast-feeding mother" defined as one feeding her child breast milk directly or by expressing and bottle-feeding

Individuals with legal custody who are personally responsible for a child under age 3 requiring continuous care during normal court hours may request excusal from jury service

Jury judges and commissioners have discretion to grant or deny excusals for breast-feeding and childcare reasons; excusals may only be granted for a necessary period and no more than twice without extraordinary circumstances

Maryland Judiciary must report annually by December 31 to the General Assembly on jury service excusal requests, including numbers requested, granted, and denied, disaggregated by jurisdiction and excusal type
