School resource officers and school security employees at Maryland public schools are prohibited from engaging in federal immigration investigation or enforcement functions under § 287(g) of the federal Immigration and Nationality Act

School resource officers include law enforcement officers assigned to schools through memoranda of understanding between law enforcement agencies and local education agencies, as well as Baltimore City school police officers

School security employees are defined as non-law enforcement individuals employed by local school systems to provide safety and security services at public schools
