Increases the penalty for storing or leaving a loaded firearm where an unsupervised minor has access from a fine-only offense to up to 2 years imprisonment, a fine up to $1,000, or both

Applies to situations where the person knew or should have known the minor could access the firearm

Exempts cases where the minor is supervised by someone 18 or older, obtained access through unlawful entry, the firearm is controlled by an on-duty law enforcement officer, or the minor holds a firearm and hunter safety certificate

Violations cannot be used as evidence of negligence or contributory negligence in civil actions, and cannot be referenced during civil trials involving property damage, personal injury, or death

Takes effect October 1, 2025
