Exempts religious educational institutions established before January 1, 2013 from the requirement to obtain a certificate of approval from the Maryland Higher Education Commission, even if accredited by a U.S. Department of Education-recognized accrediting body

Religious institutions accredited by federally-recognized accrediting bodies and established on or after January 1, 2013 must still obtain a certificate of approval from the Commission to operate

Religious institutions without federal accreditation may continue operating without Commission approval if they meet existing criteria: established for religious purposes, provide only religious vocation programs, offer only sectarian instruction, and disclose the religious nature on diplomas
