Anne Arundel County Board of Education may operate all county schools using a scheduling model that eliminates early dismissal days, allowing fewer than 180 school days if minimum hours of attendance requirements under COMAR 13A.03.02.12 (as of July 1, 2025) are met

If the county board adopts this alternative scheduling model, it must apply to all schools in the county, not select schools

Schools operating under this model with fewer than 180 days must offer hourly employees an opportunity to make up lost wages through other duties before the next school year begins

Anne Arundel County Board of Education must report to the State Department of Education and General Assembly by June 30, 2026 and June 30, 2027 on schools using the alternative scheduling model, including days open and hours per day with students in attendance

The law takes effect July 1, 2025 and automatically expires June 30, 2027 (2-year pilot period)
