Changes the deadline trigger for completing police misconduct investigations from the date a citizen files a complaint to the date the appropriate law enforcement official became aware of the incident

Requires the full investigation and administrative charging committee process to be completed within 1 year and 1 day of the agency becoming aware of the incident

Establishes the same 1 year and 1 day deadline for law enforcement agencies to file administrative charges in misconduct cases not requiring administrative charging committee review

Creates an exception for misconduct related to criminal investigations, allowing administrative charges to be filed within 1 year and 1 day after: the determination that no criminal activity occurred, final disposition of criminal charges, or notice that prosecutors declined to file charges

Takes effect October 1, 2025
