Secretary of State may suspend or waive late fees ($25/month) for charitable organizations that fail to file annual reports, either through adopted regulations or settlement agreements

Late fees assessed to charitable organizations are excluded from being referred to the Central Collection Unit as delinquent debt

Secretary of State may cancel a charitable organization's registration if it fails to submit required annual reports or updates for 3 years, after sending notice to the organization's last known address and email

Canceled registrations may be reinstated if the organization submits all outstanding reports and fees, is in good standing with the State Department of Assessments and Taxation, and maintains current 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status if applicable

Effective July 1, 2025
