Health occupations boards cannot require additional English proficiency evidence from applicants who hold valid, unrestricted licenses from other states that already require English proficiency testing

Each health occupations board requiring English proficiency must post a website statement informing applicants they may be exempt from additional proficiency requirements if licensed in another state with such requirements

The State Board of Nursing now accepts two additional forms of English proficiency proof: passing a U.S. Department of Health and Human Services-approved exam, or holding a valid multistate license under the Nurse Licensure Compact

Nurses holding a valid, unencumbered multistate license under the Nurse Licensure Compact can now qualify for licensure by endorsement in Maryland without providing additional educational documentation
